When I was doing this assignment, I personally think that I did better compare to the first one of this that I did. It didn’t have much of overlap which I personally think it’s something better. With this video, I added screenshot of pictures for the video and also screen recording of the video example of surveillance. It’s something new to me which it’s still a bit hard for me. For the screenshot of the news and the forum posts on twitter, I find it was easy and I was able to handle the screenshot. However, when I was adding in the screen recording of the video example, it was harder than I thought. The video was not in the full screen compare with screenshots, some of the subtitles were cut off and a bit of the top were also cut off. For this part, I do not know how to fix it although I’ve tried many ways, but the video still shows most of the video.
The reason why I chose this to do Brooklyn 99 to be part of my video is because I find it interesting when I was watching it. Although it’s not called “surveillance”, but the way and style of the “stingray” works, it’s the same as how surveillance works. And also, it’s because Brooklyn 99 season 6 just came out and I was watching it when this topic came up. I find it different from others because it actually explained how it works but in a show way.
When I was going through my feed on Twitter, I saw this post about how the Hong Kong polices were hacking into their citizen mobile phones while they were arrested to check whether the they were part of the protest or not. Personally, I think that this is the bad way to use surveillance, although they were trying to find out if the citizen where part of it. They still do not have the right to hack into someone’s privacy especially with this kind of situation. That is why I decided to use this tweet to be my forum because I wanted to tell the audience that this is the bad way to use it in the modern society.
For the news that I have picked, I find it very interesting how London have finally decided to use the facial reorganisation technologies when it comes to surveillance for serious crime after being tested so long. It explained on how accurate the system was and why they have decided to adapt this method into their city. Which this makes me think, they have mentioned that they have finally use the facial reorganisation after adopting a level of surveillance of China. Will this make them adapt more things that’s like China? If this method is successful, is it possible that they are going to add more CCTV cameras around London more for their safety or will they spread out to different cities in United Kingdom. This is something to find out in the future and connected with any updates.
Although this video might not be full of contents, but I personally think that I have improved my editing skills, wouldn’t say it have improved a lot, but I believe it is better than the previous one. I have stated some facts towards surveillance in the video. The reason why I chose to do surveillance is because I find it interesting on how much privacy we have nowadays in our society. I feel like the safest place is probably our homes but sooner or later I believe that it will no longer be our safest place anymore. Maybe in the future, we will be watch during our meals or even when we are sleeping. I understand that this is for our own safety but sometimes I think it can also be too much for them to always be watching us.
