Surveillance

For this assignment, what I wanted to talk about is to let the audience know the basic knowledge of surveillance. I wanted them to know that they are everywhere. No matter where you go, do or even who you are. I also wanted them to know and be aware with everything they do since nowadays technologies are well developed. Which makes everything a lot easy than how it was compare to before. Also reminding them to be safe with their personal devices because people can hack into the system and look at them thru the camera that’s available on their devices.

When it comes to planning this assignment, at first, I didn’t know what to talk about or which topic to use but then I started off my going thru the lecture slides and grab some ideas. I started off by writing my script with what I wanted to talk about in the video, after that I started to draw small amount of story board. At least something that I could outline so I know what to film and what to add into the video. In my mind, I had a better view of how the video was going to look like but since this is my first time filming alone, without any help from my friends, it seems to be harder than I expected. The angle of me filming myself might not be the best angle, might have a few of head room and not the video might not be straight. What I wanted to do in this video is less video of myself, which means most of the time that I was talking, there’s going to be several layers of different videos above the main part. For music, I tried to find the right part to fade and match with how I talk the most so that it doesn’t sound off later when putting it together.

When I was making this video, I’ve already left Australia, so the weather was opposite. Right not in Hong Kong its cold and I was really sick on the day that I made this. I had no choice to film it on this day because I will be away and won’t have any time to do it. I kept sneezing throughout the videos, I had to keep redo them every time I sneeze, or my nose is blocked. Where I live, there’s hardly any places that’s tall and can take videos from the top so I had to tiptoe as high as I can in order to get the angle of how a security camera would look like. Personally, I think in the future for my last assignment I could improve my video taking skills and improve my editing skills even more.
